Day 131 – May 11 Pinions

Today while I was heating up my lunch, I was looking around for something “visually interesting” that I could photograph today.  Something that not everyone sees every day.  I came across these little things, pinions.  They’re used in very, very old mechanical looms for weaving.  Yes, those looms still work today.  These pinions are actually made of a paper-like material and pressed together with adhesive.  It’s amazing they can keep their shape and function like they do being made off that material.  The center one is newer and plastic.  So…. here you go, hope you find it visually interesting!  🙂
