Day 240 – August 28 Hurricane Irene

It appears as if those of us on the seacoast dodged a bullet today with this hurricane passing through.  All week we heard how bad it was going to be and how we should be prepared.  Of course, I was, as I’m sure others were also.  Thankfully, I never even lost power as the storm passed through.  By the time it reached New England, it was down graded to a tropical storm.  It also took a turn to the west and didn’t impact those of us on the seacoast much at all, even though we’re still under a tropical storm warning due to the winds.  On the evening news, I heard there were still scattered power outages, but all in all, we were lucky.  Inland it appears there are worse issues with flooding.  Of course, I had to make my way to the beach to see how the storm surf looked.  The ocean was churning and I’m sure that later during high tide, things could get interesting.  The photo for today was taken at low tide.  I hope everyone stayed safe!
