Day 316 – November 12 Mixed Martial Arts

I had the fortunate opportunity to get close to the action for a local Mixed Martial Arts competition and photograph it.  It was the first time I’ve ever been to an event like this and photographing it was a real challenge.  I was shooting through the caged fence around it, the lights were crazy and there was constant movement.  No flash.  If you’re a photographer reading this, your head should be spinning right about now.  🙂  Oh, and I was leaning over 3 foot walking area around the perimeter of the cage the whole night.  I have several hundred photos to sort through, but for my photo of the day I went immediately to my favorite fight that I watched.  It was second to last and one of the fighters was very expressive and always had an interesting look on his face.  The sport isn’t for everyone, but if you appreciate martial arts and boxing, I think you would appreciate this sport as well.  Surprisingly, I enjoyed it.  This level is considered an entry point for the Ultimate Fight Club (UFC) who just had their very first free public TV broadcast on the very same night on FOX in the USA.  Definitely a big deal!
